Reviews for This Is The Way The World Ends

Review by Jean Roberta at Erotica Revealed (entire review here):

This excellent collection is not for the faint of heart. Here you will find aliens, vampires, fire, famine, revelations, dictatorships, corruption and desperation. Under these circumstances (where there is either total anarchy or extreme social control), a surprising amount of the sex is consensual. Some of it is even satisfying. And there are no zombies in sight, unless the cover illustration of tired-looking, greenish humanoid figures (“Train Commute, Tokyo Series 1 of 5” by Rebecca Meredith) is meant to suggest the living dead. …

All the stories in this collection are worth reading, and each interprets the concept of apocalypse in a different way. …

This anthology is an outstanding example of a hybrid genre, horror erotica. The stories are memorable, and the authors show their ability to write beautifully about extreme ugliness. Brace yourself.

Review by Lady Evyl at Mistress Lady Evyl (entire review here):

“This Is The Way The World Ends: an anthology of apocalyptic erotica” may have corrupted me and shown a dim light in a dark unknown place of my mind where the really forbidden taboos are indeed alive and pleasurable – at least in a literature fantasy way. The some odd 160 pages will take you down 10 paths (stories) you never would have dared to explore. This is exactly the kind of writing Freaky Fountain Press seeks out as they try to fill in the gap that usual mainstream publishers block: necrophilia, non-consent, violence, cutting, snuff, gore, and cannibalism to name a few. …

As the title suggests, every story has one common element: an apocalyptic setting. Sometimes its is a real and sometimes it is in the mind but you get an “end-of-the-world” scenario in each work. And all of these stories make you think of one thing at the end: just exactly what would you be willing to do to survive, to create a sanity for yourself, how deprived can you be to stay alive. A very dark theme to explore but a really interesting one. …

If you like to read about subjects that break all the rules and you have a very open mind then you should definitely get a copy of This Is The Way The World Ends: an anthology of apocalyptic erotica.

Reviews for Bad Romance

Review from Remittance Girl (entire review here):

Some romances break your heart and some dismember and disembowel you, this anthology deals with the latter, both metaphorically and literally. From Jeanette Grey’s looping car crash in ‘Bleeding Red‘ to the blithe decapitation of Chris Guthrie’s ‘Three Days In Summer‘, the collection is a literate homage to all the ways in which we delight in our own destruction and that of those we love. …

I once tried to describe the difference between porn and erotica by explaining that porn carves away all extraneous matter and leaves the sex whereas erotica should reflect an entire life, seen through an erotic lens. ‘Bad Romance’ does exactly that, no matter how explicit or raw or violent. It tells the story of the how and the why, not just the what. …

I think the biggest compliment I can offer this collection is: I seldom care if or where I’m published. This is the only anthology I’ve ever read in which I would have given several digits of my right hand to be included.

I do hope Freaky Fountain Press survive and thrive. Because I honestly believe that the future of erotica as a legitimate genre is in the hands of editors and publishers of their ilk.
